Making Your Own Soap Socks

What do you do with an old, dirty, and rarely used soap sock but way more than just darning but not quite good enough to toss in the trash? You could turn it into a Soap Sock perfect for polishing, cleaning, cars, and anything starting with a “c.” Besides, even if your soiled socks get soiled through normal use, it’s best to keep them neatly folded away in a clean cotton or polyester trash bag for later use. The softer the sock the better, especially old-fashioned woolen walking socks or cutlery socks; the cooler the sock, the better for darning, curling, and other fashionably finishing activities.

This is a helpful tip for learning how to make your own Soap Socks, as well as a great time-saving technique when on the go. The technique involves pulling up one end of the washed-out sock and slipping it under the hairline as you pull the rest of the hair back. With the base of your thumb, pull the ends of the sock under the foundation double of your shampoo. (foundation double – the section at the top of the head – should already be covered with foundation. The remainder of the soiled portion of the sock should be inserted between the foundation and shampoo.

With the appropriate attachment (sold separately), pull the tip of the Soap Sock through the body, forming a loop, which is then wrapped around the back of the foundation double. Secure the loop by inserting a pin through the body. (You may need to use a bldc clip, available from any beauty supply store.)
